I met Ron and Mary at lake Melisa years ago. Our parents had cabins on the lake and we became friends with our then little kids playing together at each other’s places. They grew up together and have a bonding friendship to this day. How special watching our families grow together❤️ Grandpas and grandmas telling there stories were precious. Robert went to Clifford-Galesburg his senior year with my son Nathan and he lived with us. Special times for our families. Nate and Bob played on the same team winning a tournament and come very close to going I think to state. Ron and Mary would come to every game. I began to understand the talent Ron had as a past coach and I listened. He was spot on. Ron was a coaches coach. Ron was competitive but a sportsman and above all a gentleman. Great times. I’m thankful for visiting Ron and Mary last winter they were wonderful hosts. In closing thank you Ron for sharing your family with us I am saddened it ended so unexpectedly. I’m sure your enjoying a good round of golf maybe with my dad. Keep an eye from up there on us and I’ll do my best watching and helping our families down here. RIP and god bless. Reed Satroms

Mary and Family, You have our deepest sympathy. I was so impressed with Ron's friendly smile and his willingness to carry those big, beautiful plants each year to the garden show at the fair. God bless you and give you His peace. Nancy and Wayne Wagoner
Ron was a good friend through school and a wonderful point guard on our basketball team at Moline High School. As a cheerleader I got to travel and enjoy watching him in all the games.
He was always cheerful and friendly and will be missed by everyone who knew him for sure. My sympathy and prayers to your family. God bless. Kathie (Powers) Brown, MHS Class of '64
I was lucky enough to be able to call him "Dad". The father of my best friend Shelly. He and Mary never treated me as a guest....They've always treated me as part of the family. You will forever have a place in my heart. Love you "Dad"
We offer our sincere sympathies in the passing of Ronald Paul “Ron” Herring. He successfully carried out many roles: husband, dad, son, coach, team player, friend, and neighbor.
What a great human being. We are privileged that his and our paths touched. Ron was a talented, sincere, and helpful person. Ron was a unique individual in heart and soul. He took ordinary tasks and executed them with compassion and energy.
Mary, our prayers are with you, your family, and Ron’s friends.

Mary, Bob and family,
My deepest condolences. I have great respect for Ron. I was able to enjoy watching Ron do something he was very passionate about… coaching. He was a great person, who loved to help our young basketball players develop. He shared many great stories with the girls to help them understand the game better. Addie was touched by his community spirit. Thinking of you during this very difficult time.
