Sending thoughts and prayers to all family, friends and anyone that had to honor of meeting Hooder. I have so many memories of growing up playing at his house. One of my favorites is all the times he had to carry me down from the tree house because I could get up but was too scared to come down. He was one of the best.

To one old truck driver from an other. God is going to learn a new meaning of a train horn.
Rest in peace.

Rue Lain and the entire Hudrlik family, I am so sorry for your loss! You may not remember me, however I filled in for Steve when he was on the road a few times and played bass with your dad's band. I never really knew Steve however I did make the 4th of July fireworks at the farm a couple of times back in the 80's I believe.

CandleMemories--Neighborhood 4th. of July at Ed and Rae Ona's! Fire-works, great food, an RC airplane in a tree!! Hooder was the life of the evening and we all loved every minute of these times! Our hearts are with Mary Lou and family, he will be missed but may all the good memories live on!! The Lord be with you all.

We live in Elizabeth Illinois. When our kids were small and Hooder was going to be coming through town, he would call us and we would go to the corner and wait for the blast of those train horns!! We all loved it even the local police, after I told the chief he was a very good friend. I've known Hooder for over 30 years. We talked a few times a year and we would meet on the road often. We'll miss him .

To Mary Lou, Ron and Rue, Kevin and All of Steve's family and friends, there are no words to express the deep sorrow that goes along with a sudden death of a loved special, so dear.
We want you to know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Death is a heartache that no one can heal, yet memories are treasures that no one can steal. Steve will live on and around you, and whenever you think about him, or share those memories, even through tears... I pray you find peace and a smile

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Steve's passing. All of my memories of Steve are of that twinkle in his eye and that ornery smirk, especially when he and Ken were together. My deepest sympathies to Mary Lou and the whole family.

Phil Bowman October 30, 2020

It's been awhile since I have visited Andrew, and looking at Steve's picture I thought I was looking at Big Ed. It seems the older we get the more we look like our parents. I have very fond memories of Steve and his humor and antics in the 70s and 80s before I moved away. I know you will miss him dearly Mary Lou, as will his family, whom I haven't seen in too many years.

Chuck n Sharon Kueter October 30, 2020

So sad to lose an Andrew Community icon BUT can envision - as the gates of heaven opened - the past Andrew residents (family) heard the sound of his semi blaring - they are all celebrating his arrival!

Pam and Tim Davis October 30, 2020

Sending prayers your way. I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to
participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in
our memories. We find comfort in knowing that our lives have been enriched by having shared
their love.

Brenda Van Keuren October 30, 2020

I'm very sorry for your loss and send my deepest condolences. Although I didn't know Hooder personally, he brought a lot of joy to our family and my mom. After my dad passed away, he made sure to blow his whistle every time he passed by my parent's house on Hwy 62. My mom looked forward to his "hellos" and we will all miss his kind gesture.
