Evelyn was a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. She loved playing cards and bridge, crocheting and doing plastic canvas, and most importantly loved dancing with her husband Leonard.

Those left to honor Evelyn's memory include her children, Denny (and wife Joan) Dodds of Maquoketa, IA, Denyse (and husband Dick) Walker of Bettendorf, IA, Diane (and husband Stanley) Summer of DeWitt, IA, and Dawn (and husband Robert Drake) Suthers of La Place, LA; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, several step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Maxine Wagner of Dubuque, IA, Edna Hans of Davenport, IA, and Marvella Hans of Ankeny, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard on July 14, 2000, brothers Carl and George Hans, a step-brother Fred Wiedemen, and sisters Elsie Knutsen, Gladys Prussia, Hilda Prussia, and Edith Rorah.

Diane, Denyse, Denny, and Dawn....I was so sorry to read of the loss of your mom. She was always kind to me when I visited your house, Diane. That seems like a long time ago. She's one of the ladies I feel like I have known nearly all of my life, and I remember her with fondness. My sympathy to all of you!

I am so sad that Aunt Evelyn has passed. i know she was ill and that shes in a better place with Uncle Leonard now but it doesnt lessen the sadness. Im going to wrap myself in great memories like playing on her jig porch in the kids kitchen witjlh Diane and Dawn while she hosted Avon and Tipperware parties for Grandma. She'd bring us out our own snacks and fill our teapots with coca cola and give is a bunch of sample lipsticks to play with. We'd put on ten layers and cover all the dolls and she'd never be mad. I remember summer picnics and her and mom helping us catch fire flies and teaching us to skate. She was so very fun and so nice to all of us. When i was little she taught me how to dance the polka....she was a wonderful Aunt and a wonderful freind and sister to my mother. Aunt Evelyn touched a lot of lives and will be greatly missed.
