Community Virtual Blue Christmas Service Of Hope

 Monday, December 21 2020 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM
First United Methodist Church
Wesley Drive,
Maquoketa, Iowa 52060

The year 2020 has been a year like no other.  All of us have
experienced grief and loss as we have faced changes brought on by
the pandemic. Many have walked the path of grief and loss
isolated, without the support of friends and family.  As the holidays
approach, the weight of this journey can feel even more daunting.
We just need a moment to hear words of guidance and solace, to
connect with others on this journey, even if it is in a virtual space.

Pastor Alberta Ervin and Funeral Celebrant Colleen Petaros will lead us in a
virtual service where we acknowledge the losses we face due to the
pandemic and the losses we feel because there is an empty chair at our
table. The service is nondenominational. We will have a time of
remembering, of candle lighting and connecting with each other, even from
afar.

We invite you join us on the longest night of the year, Monday,
December 21 at 6:30 P.M. You can access it in these ways: Facebook:
Maquoketa First United Methodist or YouTube: Maquoketa First
United Methodist Church. As part of the service, we encourage you to
light candles in remembrance and hope. We encourage you to have ribbons
or other forms of remembrance that you can place on your tree. We look
forward to spending some special time together as we remember and share
part our grief journey in virtual community.

Send me the calendar entry!
