Robert's Obituary 
Robert R. "Bob" Hartley, 83, of Delmar, Iowa, died on Thursday, September 6, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
A celebration of Robert's Life will be held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, September 11, 2012, from the Delmar United Methodist Church. A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Monday, September 10, 2012, from the Delmar United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be held from the Union Cemetery, rural Maquoketa, Iowa, at a later date.
Robert Raymond Hartley was born on November 13, 1928 in Clarence, Iowa, to James Walter and Cora Lee (Fowler) Hartley. He grew up in Cedar County and attended Harmony Point country school and graduated from Tipton High School. He served his country for four years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during the Korean war. He married Patricia Fern "Pat" Morrison on June 8, 1958 in Brooklyn, Iowa.
After receiving his honorable discharge "Bob" worked for Interstate Finance in the collections department for many years. He started in Cedar Rapids and then was transferred to Davenport and in 1965 to Maquoketa. He then began a career as a car salesman working for Wagener Ford in Maquoketa for several years. He then worked for Anamosa Silos and lastly as a caregiver with DAC, Inc. in Maquoketa. He retired in 2001.
"Bob" was a member of the Delmar United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Delmar Lions Club. He was an avid bridge player, and a diehard fan of the Chicago Bears, Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He is remembered as a family oriented, sensitive man, who had a good sense of humor. He will be dearly missed.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Pat Hartley of Delmar, IA; a son, Scott (Mary Kay) Hartley of Shakopee, MN; 3 grandchildren, Megan, Chris and Alex; a sister, Edna Ehresman of Tipton, IA; a brother-in-law, Rick (Deb) Morrison of Brooklyn, IA; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, memorials may be made to the Robert R. "Bob" Hartley memorial fund.
The Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa is caring for the family.
