Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 P.M. on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt, Iowa.

Dale Louis Ruggeberg was born December 21, 1924 on the family farm east of Lost Nation to Arthur W. and Luella A. (Schmidt) Ruggeberg. He attended country school east of Lost Nation and graduated from Elwood High School in 1942. He worked for his uncle for a short time and then entered the U.S. Army serving during World War II. On January 29, 1950, he married Doris J. Galloway in Maquoketa, Iowa. They farmed together in the Delmar area for 40 years, retiring to Maquoketa in 1990.

Dale was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa.

Dale loved to fish, and enjoyed playing cards, especially euchre, 500 and occasionally poker. He also liked traveling every year with their best friends, The Fischer's. Family gatherings were events that he looked forward to, as well as his retirement with Doris.

Dale is survived by a daughter, Deb (Leon) Wagemester of DeWitt, IA; 4 grandchildren, Lynn (Terry) Chapman of Tipton, IA, Terri (Don) Swanton of Goose Lake, IA, Steve (Sara) Wagemester of Viroqua, WI and Mark (Jennifer) Wagemester of North Liberty, IA; 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Wayne (Vicky) Ruggeberg of Maquoketa, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Oma, and his wife, Doris on August 24, 2010.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Dale L. Ruggeberg memorial fund has been established.
