What: 4th Annual Cake Auction
When: February 1, 2013
Where: Maquoketa Community High School Gymnasium
The 4th Annual Cake Auction which will be held February 1st between the girls & boys varsity basketball games vs. DeWitt at the Maquoketa Gym. The proceeds from this fundraiser will benefit both the Maquoketa Education Fund & The Maquoketa Athletic Boosters. We welcome all supporters of Maquoketa Schools to join us in making this a successful fundraiser as well as enjoy the efforts of many who put their time & talents into decorating the cakes.
Maquoketa High School’s “club hope” has decided team up with Osterhaus Pharmacy to host a “mini” dance marathon to raise money for the University of Iowa’s Dance Marathon which has pledged a $5 million donation to the Iowa City Children’s Hospital over the next three years for the new Children’s Hospital being build.
club hOpe is a Youth-In-Action Group, which is a non-profit organization Free the Children. club hOpe has decided to follow in the example of the University of Iowa Dance Marathon and host its second “mini” marathon. The event is going to be held Saturday, December 15th at Maquoketa High School. The doors will open at 5:30 PM and the activities will go from 6 PM to 12 AM. It will cost $5 to get in the door, and you will then be considered a “spirit dancer”. As a spirit dancer, you are free to enter the West Gym to take part in dancing and listening to the stories of Iowa City Children’s Hospital patients and families, enjoy the free-will donation spaghetti supper, make the current Iowa City Children’s Hospital patients crafts, and view the Walk to Remember displays made by patients and families. All proceeds collected at this event will go towards the University of Iowa Dance Marathon’s pledge of $5 million.

What: Octoberfest Craft and Vendor Show Sponsored By MCHS Club hOpe
Octoberfest starts at 10am on October 20th at Pearson Hall on the Jackson County Fairgrounds. The show ends at 5pm. There will be a “Kids Korner” for parents to drop their kids off in so they can shop and enjoy the show while their kids are watched for free and entertained by making crafts themselves and playing games. There will also be a homemade Concession Stand with full of homemade baked goods, turkey dressing sandwiches, shredded pork sandwiches and other yummy treats!
club hOpe believes by hosting events like this they are helping make a difference in their community while raising money for a good cause. These high school students have worked really hard to put together a great show, which includes over 35 various crafters and vendors.
It will definitely be a day full of fun and creativity for a great cause! club hOpe highly encourages any and all ages of people to come and join them!
